Manual Therapy in Fort Lauderdale, FL

Hands-On Care That Gets You Moving Again.

Sometimes the fastest way to relief is a skilled set of hands. Manual therapy at Coast 2 Coast Sports Medicine uses hands-on techniques to relax tight muscles, loosen stiff joints, ease pain, and restore the way your body moves.

It’s a core part of physical therapy at our clinic, and our patients love it. Whether you’re dealing with a stiff neck, a sore back, or recovering from surgery, manual therapy can help you feel better from your very first visit.

What Is Manual Therapy?

Manual therapy is a specialized form of physical therapy where your therapist uses their hands, not machines, to treat your muscles, joints, and connective tissue. It’s an essential part of rehabilitation that helps reduce pain and improve mobility.

Techniques We Use

  • Joint mobilization: Gentle, controlled movements that loosen stiff joints and restore motion
  • Soft tissue mobilization & massage: Relaxes tight muscles and reduces spasms
  • Myofascial release: Releases tension in the fascia, the connective tissue around your muscles
  • Trigger point release: Targets knots that cause local and referred pain
  • Muscle energy techniques: Uses your own muscle contractions to improve joint position and movement
  • Stretching and cupping: Improves flexibility and blood flow to tight areas

This was my third time here and I returned for a reason. Kris has the best staff, they're very personable, and most importantly they're extremely detail oriented towards your needs. This time I had some tightness in my back and by the end of the session, it was gone. The machine they placed on it was top notch, and the work they did (cupping and massage) on my tight areas felt amazing. Confident in saying this was the best physical therapy session I've ever had.

Manual Therapy FAQs

Is manual therapy the same as massage?

Massage is one part of manual therapy, but manual therapy goes further. It includes joint mobilization and other techniques performed by a licensed physical therapist to treat a specific problem.

Does manual therapy hurt?

It shouldn’t be painful. You may feel some pressure or mild discomfort in tight areas, but your therapist will adjust to keep you comfortable.

Is manual therapy covered by insurance?

Manual therapy is a standard part of physical therapy and is covered by most insurance plans. We’ll verify your benefits for you.

How quickly will I feel better?

Many patients feel looser and have less pain after their first session. For lasting results, manual therapy is combined with exercises you continue at home.
