PHYSICAL THERAPY IN FORT LAUDERDALE, FL

Feel Good. Live Better.
Get Back to What You Love.

Pain shouldn’t decide what you can and can’t do. At Coast 2 Coast Sports Medicine, our Doctors of Physical Therapy help Fort Lauderdale patients recover from injuries, rebuild strength after surgery, and finally get relief from chronic pain. Every patient gets a one-on-one evaluation and a treatment plan built around their body, their goals, and their life.

You don’t have to be an athlete to get athlete-level care. Most of our patients are everyday people: someone recovering from a knee replacement, a desk worker with neck and back pain, a parent who threw out their back lifting their kids, or a retiree who wants to stay steady on their feet. Whatever brought you in, we’ll find the source of your pain and treat it, not just the symptoms.

Personalized Physical Therapy That Treats the Source of Your Pain

Too many people get a generic sheet of exercises and get sent on their way. That’s not how we work. Our physical therapists take the time to understand how your injury happened, how you move, and what you want to get back to doing.

From there, we build a plan that combines hands-on treatment, targeted exercise, and education so you understand what’s going on with your body at every step. You’ll always know why we’re doing what we’re doing, and what progress looks like.

Our physical therapy services help with:

  • Injury recovery: sprains, strains, tears, and overuse injuries
  • Post-surgery rehabilitation: ACL, rotator cuff, joint replacement, spine surgery, and more
  • Chronic pain relief: long-term back, neck, joint, and nerve pain
  • Sports performance: return-to-sport training and injury prevention for athletes of every level
  • Balance and gait training: improving stability, walking, and fall prevention

This was my third time here and I returned for a reason. Kris has the best staff, they're very personable, and most importantly they're extremely detail oriented towards your needs. This time I had some tightness in my back and by the end of the session, it was gone. The machine they placed on it was top notch, and the work they did (cupping and massage) on my tight areas felt amazing. Confident in saying this was the best physical therapy session I've ever had.

Our Physical Therapy Treatments

Every treatment plan is customized, but these are some of the proven techniques our therapists use to reduce pain, restore motion, and get you moving with confidence.

Dry Needling

Our therapists are certified in dry needling, a technique that uses thin, sterile needles to release tight muscles and trigger points. It’s especially effective for muscle tension, chronic pain, and sports injuries.

Manual Therapy & Soft Tissue Work

Hands-on techniques such as joint mobilization, massage, and soft tissue release help reduce pain, loosen tight areas, and improve how your joints move.

Cupping

Cupping uses suction to lift and decompress muscle and connective tissue, improving blood flow and relieving tightness. It’s a patient favorite for quick relief.

Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (Graston Technique)

Using specialized tools, we break up scar tissue and restrictions to speed healing in muscles, tendons, and fascia.

Kinesiology Taping

Therapeutic taping (RockTape) supports injured areas, reduces swelling, and helps you move better during and between sessions.

3D Movement Analysis

Using the Gray Institute’s 3D MAPS (Movement Analysis & Performance System) screening, we look at how your whole body moves to uncover the weak links behind pain and injury.

Therapeutic Exercise & Strength Training

Targeted exercises rebuild strength, flexibility, and stability so you recover faster and lower your risk of getting hurt again.

Balance & Gait Training

We help patients improve their walking, coordination, and stability, which is especially important after surgery, injury, or for anyone at risk of falls.

Physical Therapy for Everyday Life

Physical therapy isn’t just for athletes. It’s for anyone whose pain or limited movement is getting in the way of daily life. We help patients of all ages and activity levels:

  • Get back to work without neck, back, or wrist pain from long hours at a desk or on your feet
  • Recover from surgery such as a hip or knee replacement, rotator cuff repair, or spine surgery
  • Manage chronic pain from arthritis, sciatica, disc problems, or old injuries that never fully healed
  • Move with confidence through balance and gait training that lowers the risk of falls
  • Do the things you enjoy like walking the beach, playing with your kids or grandkids, gardening, golfing, or getting back to the gym

You’ll get the same expert, one-on-one attention whether you’re 16 or 86.

Sports Physical Therapy from Therapists Who Work with the Pros

For athletes, we bring something extra. Our therapists have worked with athletes from the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, UFC/MMA, boxing, Formula 1, professional tennis, professional surfing, and the USA Olympic sailing team, including athletes preparing for the NFL Combine.

Whether you’re a high school athlete coming back from an ACL tear, a weekend warrior, or a pro, we’ll help you return to your sport stronger and with less risk of reinjury. And that same pro-level expertise goes into the care of every patient we see.

What to Expect at Your First Physical Therapy Visit

Starting physical therapy is easy. Here’s what your first visit looks like:

  1. Conversation: We start by listening. We’ll talk about your injury or pain, your medical history, and your goals.
  2. Comprehensive Movement Assessment: Your therapist will evaluate your strength, range of motion, posture, and movement patterns to pinpoint the source of the problem.
  3. Your Personalized Treatment Plan: We’ll explain what we found in plain language and lay out a plan to get you better, including how often you’ll come in and what progress to expect.
  4. Treatment Begins: In most cases, you’ll start hands-on treatment on day one and leave with exercises to do at home.

What to bring: a photo ID, your insurance card, any doctor’s referral or imaging reports (if you have them), and comfortable clothing you can move in.

Physical Therapy FAQs

Do I need a referral to see a physical therapist in Florida?

No. Florida allows direct access, so you can start physical therapy without a physician’s referral. Some insurance plans do require a referral for coverage, so give us a call and we’ll check your plan for you.

Does insurance cover physical therapy?

Most health insurance plans cover physical therapy. We accept Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, many Blue Cross Blue Shield plans, and more. Our office will verify your coverage before your first appointment.

How long does a physical therapy session last?

Most sessions last 45 to 60 minutes. Your first visit may run a little longer because it includes your full evaluation.

How many physical therapy sessions will I need?

It depends on your condition, how long you’ve had it, and your goals. After your evaluation, your therapist will give you a clear plan and estimated timeline.

Is dry needling painful?

Most patients feel little to no discomfort when the needle goes in. You may feel a brief muscle twitch or ache as the muscle releases, followed by relief. Your therapist will talk you through it every step of the way.

Can physical therapy help me avoid surgery?

For many conditions, such as back pain, neck pain, disc issues, and some rotator cuff and knee injuries, physical therapy can reduce pain and restore function without surgery. Your therapist can help you understand your options.

Do you only work with athletes?

Not at all. While we have deep experience in sports medicine, we treat patients of all ages and activity levels, from post-surgery patients and people with chronic pain to anyone who wants to move and feel better.
